A historic rally to promote the upcoming film Devi Choudhurani recently captivated the streets of North Kolkata, drawing over 7,000 participants. The event, which paid homage to both the city’s revolutionary past and the film’s historical theme, was led by the film’s main cast, including Srabanti Chatterjee and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
The rally began in Bagbazar and culminated at the iconic Star Theatre, a venue renowned for its role in anti-British plays during India’s struggle for independence. The rally’s lead actors added a dramatic flair by riding on horseback from Shyambazar to the theatre.
The promotional rally was attended by the entire cast and crew of the film. Lead actors Srabanti Chatterjee, who plays Devi Choudhurani, and Prosenjit Chatterjee, who portrays Bhavani Pathak, were the center of attention. They were joined by other cast members, including Darshana Banik, Bibriti Chatterjee, and Kinjal Nanda.
The film’s creative team, including music director Bikram Ghosh, producers Aniruddha Dasgupta and Aparna Dasgupta, and singer Durnibar Saha, were also present. During the event, attendees were given a glimpse into the film’s world with the screening of a teaser and a song video at the Star Theatre. The huge crowd witnessed the exciting promotional material, building anticipation for the film’s release. The event also featured the unveiling of a large cut-out featuring Srabanti and Prosenjit. And an ensemble cast poster was also shown to the public.
The event served as a dual celebration, commemorating the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” India’s national song. The recently released song from the film, “Durgamo Giri,” which incorporates “Vande Mataram,” was a highlight of the gathering. The massive crowd enthusiastically sang along, creating a powerful and patriotic atmosphere that resonated with the historical significance of the song.
